How to Install Bathroom Tiles
When considering a bathroom remodel project, the tiles are an important aspect. Not only are the tiles a basic part of the bathroom walls and floors, they are also important for the overall design. However, choosing the right tiles for your bathroom is not the only important task. Once you purchase the tiles, installing them in the bathroom can also take some time. Some people ask for professional help for laying the bathroom tiles. However, this is an easy task which can be tackled by anyone at home. There are only a few things that you would need in order to install the tiles.
Installing the Bathroom Tiles
Installing the tiles in the bathroom is an easy task. In fact, it is the easiest task in the entire bathroom remodel project. The materials that you would need are gloves, goggles, sponge, level, tiles, spacers, spreader, grout, pencil and tape measure and a cutter. Once you have all of these materials ready with you, follow the below mentioned steps:
Check the Area
Before you actually begin installing the tiles for your bathroom remodel, you would first have to check he area where you want to install them. Clean the area and dry the surface so that the installation can be done properly. Remove all the wallpapers and old tiles carefully.
Work On the Layout
Once you have cleaned the area, you would then need to check if you have the right number of tiles and see how you would be laying them out. This would also give you an idea of how the tiles would look when the project is completed. Use a tape measure to record the inches where you might need to cut a few tiles at the edges.
Cut Your Tiles
In the next step you would have to cut the tiles accurately according to the measurements. Double check all the measurements before you actually cut the tiles since accuracy is very important. If you are not too confident about this part of the job, ask someone else to help you.
The Installation
The next step would be to actually begin the installation process. Start by putting in spacers. You can spread some adhesive on the wall or the floor and lay the tile over the area. Use the sponge to remove the excess adhesive. Continue to do this until the entire area has been tiled. Once done, allow the adhesive to set overnight.
Fill the Gaps
Once you have completed laying all the tiles and the adhesive has set, you would then have to add the grout. Mix grout as per the instructions given by the manufacturer and put on your gloves. Begin by removing the spacers and then spread the grout in the gaps in between the tiles. Be careful not to make a mess. Wipe away the excess grout with a sponge. Once you have finished applying the grout you would have to allow it to harden for two to three days.
Installing bathroom tiles for your bathroom remodel project is extremely easy.
